Trauma Therapy
Are you feeling triggered and disturbed by unwelcome memories from the past?
Do you often feel unsafe, hypervigilant, or on edge—even in everyday situations that others might find normal? Maybe you’re struggling with flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, or a sense of shame that makes it hard to trust yourself, connect with others, or feel confident. Trauma has a way of keeping us stuck in old patterns, making us question our safety, our decisions, and even our worth.
Some common signs of trauma may include:
- Constantly feeling “on guard” or unsafe
- Flashbacks or intrusive thoughts
- Shame, self-blame, or self-criticism
- Difficulty sleeping or relaxing
- Muscle tension or unexplained pain
- Trouble trusting others or opening up emotionally
The good news is—you don’t have to stay stuck in this cycle. Healing is possible. With approaches like EMDR therapy, you can begin to process painful experiences in a safe and supportive way, freeing yourself from the grip of trauma and making space for peace, connection, and self-trust again.

What is trauma and how does it impact us?
Trauma is something many of us experience in different ways. Some events feel overwhelming in the moment, while others leave lasting effects that can lead to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD can happen at any age and isn’t limited to extreme or life-threatening situations—it can develop from experiences like abuse, bullying, accidents, loss, or even cultural stressors such as racism and xenophobia.
Not everyone who goes through trauma develops PTSD, but feelings of anxiety, shame, and disconnection are common. Many of us aren’t taught how to cope with stress or regulate emotions, which makes it hard to heal on our own. Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to process these experiences and begin moving toward healing with the guidance of a trauma-informed clinician.
Psychological Wellbeing is a trauma-informed therapy practice
My role in trauma counseling is to offer a safe, compassionate space where you feel supported and understood. Together, we’ll explore the roots of your struggles, set meaningful goals, and build awareness of how trauma affects both mind and body—while giving you practical tools for coping, healing, and reclaiming your sense of safety.
What to expect
My trauma therapy sessions are available online, so you can receive support from the comfort of a familiar space. Together, we’ll explore approaches tailored to your needs—such as EMDR to gently reprocess painful memories, CBT to shift negative thought patterns, and Narrative Therapy to give new perspective to your story. With mindfulness woven throughout, therapy can help you release the grip of the past, ease disruptive symptoms, and move toward healing and growth.

FAQs
Still unsure if a therapist can help you overcome your trauma?
It is completely understandable that you might be intimidated or scared to share details about your traumas with a therapist you don’t know. However, my main intention is to ensure that you feel safe in the counseling space; I will never judge you about anything you bring to therapy.
Furthermore, you always hold the power in this process. If you need to stop or slow down at any time, just let me know, and I will offer strategies for regulating your emotions in a way that will allow you to feel safe.
Since every client’s experience of trauma is different, it is difficult to predict how many counseling sessions will be necessary. Many factors impact the duration of treatment, including the complexity of your trauma, the engagement of coping skills outside of the counseling space, and the consistency of therapy sessions. As such, I will check in with you regularly to evaluate your progress.
